Job description
A Distributed Control System (DCS) Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling industrial processes using a computerized control system to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role is critical in industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and manufacturing, where precise control of processes is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Monitoring and Control: Operate and maintain the DCS to regulate process variables such as flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels according to specified parameters and schedules.
- Safety Management: Prioritize safety by adhering to established procedures and protocols, ensuring personal and process safety during start-ups, shutdowns, and routine operations.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and respond to alarms, deviations, or abnormalities in the process, performing necessary troubleshooting to maintain optimal operation.
- Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with field operators, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities, implement changes, and address operational issues effectively.
- Data Recording and Reporting: Accurately document operating data, incidents, and maintenance activities, preparing shift reports to ensure seamless information transfer between shifts.
